Rain rain

after a blistering week and a half of building and adventuring we have been rained off. The weather has turned from super warm 40C to windy rainy ireland in the last day, so because the next stage of building requires hangin off the roof putting up sail-like OSB boards the site has been pronounced unsafe.

its a shame but it gives us a bit of time of catch up with ourselves and visit some of the families in the homes they are leaving behind aswell as a completed habitat home from one of the eariler builds here.

Tools Down

The end of our first week of work already! You can see the fruits of our labour standing proudly in the background. All the external boards are now up and we've started work on the ceilings.

Ruth with our unofficial mascot, Richie. He particularly likes to help out with the electric screwdriver.

Spot the Ball

On the Tuesday night, we played football with some of the home owners and other locals. Here you see a rare glimpse of our star defender, "Hurricane O'Malley". Normally, you'd only see the dust.

Work in Progress

Thomas (right) and Peter are two of the children in the families we are working with. Apart from getting stuck into the building work, they also like to make us try to say Hungarian words.

Peter is our site manager, host, translator and all round hero! That's why he gets to use the chainsaw!

Reporting for Duty

Here is the team reporting for duty on Monday morning. Note how clean and white our uniforms are... this will change very soon! The first day was quite cool by local standards - only 29 degrees!

Quiz Night - Over €1,100 raised!

The quiz night was an enormous success so thanks to the team for all their hard work and thanks to everybody that came along and gave so generously. Thanks also to Doheny and Nesbitt for hosting the night for free and to all the companies that donated prizes.

We raised over €1,100 on the night which was way beyond our expectations.

A quick note about the French revolution... yes, it was 1789, you were right! What can I say? I'm sure that history will remember kindly the dignity with which you accepted your fate ;-)

For those that are interested, there is a link to the questions and answers for you to examine at your liesure.
